Our doctors and staff have worked for both specialty and private pet emergency hospitals. We are open seven days a week, including evening hours, to accommodate same-day appointments. What to Do When Your Pet Needs a Jupiter Emergency Vet
If you believe your pet is experiencing an urgent medical issue, you are not alone. Our team is here to help. It is important to call us right away. Many of our staff have been trained in specialty and emergency care. When you call us, we will provide you with guidance on the next steps and help you determine whether your pet needs immediate attention. We can provide both daytime pet urgent care and after-hours urgent care during evenings.
Jupiter Veterinary Hospital & Urgent Care is equipped with in-house diagnostic tools and pain management services to quickly assess and treat urgent medical conditions in cats and dogs. However, if your pet is experiencing a medical emergency outside of our hours, we strongly encourage you not to wait—contact the nearest 24-hour animal hospital so that your pet receives the care they need as quickly as possible.
When to Bring in Your Pet for Urgent Care
Knowing when to bring in your pet to an urgent care veterinarian can be confusing. If your pet is acting strangely or having unusual symptoms, we always suggest calling to see if an appointment is recommended. Some common urgent care issues treated at Jupiter Veterinary Hospital & Urgent Care include:
- Sickness
- Runny nose, coughing, or sneezing
- Fever
- Ear infection
- Skin allergies, infections, or itchy skin
- Frequent vomiting/diarrhea
- Blood in stool or urine
- Straining to urinate/defecate

Emergency Cases
While many conditions can be addressed through a pet urgent care, some situations require immediate emergency intervention. If your companion is experiencing any of the following, please treat it as a pet emergency so that symptoms do not get worse:
- Fractures or broken bones
- Excessive bleeding
- Penetrating wounds or severe trauma
- Hit by a car or other major accident
- Loss of consciousness
- Paralysis
- Active seizures
- Cardiac arrest
- Trouble breathing or choking
- Stopped breathing
- Heatstroke
- Difficulty birthing (unable to deliver kittens/puppies)
- Difficulty urinating or not urinating (for male cats)
- Need major emergency surgeries
- Need overnight hospitalizations
In some cases, we may be able to treat these emergencies or refer your pet to a nearby 24-hour specialty emergency clinic, depending on the severity of the issue and the staff available. We encourage you to call us for guidance, as we can perform some emergency pet surgeries and treatments.
