Partnering with Local Clinics for Vet Referrals in Jupiter, FL

Our staff at Jupiter Veterinary Hospital & Urgent Care serve as a trusted resource for veterinary clinics in our community. We understand that there are times when other veterinary practices may not be open or equipped to handle their client’s urgent or emergency cases. Our goal is to provide support without disrupting the patient-client relationship you’ve built. Our priority is to work alongside fellow veterinarians, offering quality urgent care for dogs and cats before they return to your practice for continued care.

What Happens When You Refer a Pet Patient

When a patient is referred to Jupiter Veterinary Hospital & Urgent Care, we make sure to maintain clear communication with the referring clinic. At check-in, clients are asked to provide the name of their regular veterinarian, which is included in all of our records. After the visit, we send a clinical visit summary to the referring DVM within 48 hours (or less), detailing:

With these records, your pet patient can return to your care with all the necessary information, allowing for seamless continuity of treatment.

How to Start an Urgent Care Referral

We value and appreciate the trust you place in us when referring your patients. Jupiter Veterinary Hospital & Urgent Care does accept same-day appointments and walk-ins seven days a week. To give your patient the best experience, we kindly request a call from either the client or a staff member of the referring veterinary clinic at (561) 630-3908 to inform us that a patient is on their way. This helps us prepare for the case and offer the most efficient service.

If you have any records that may assist in your patient’s urgent care visit, we encourage you to share them with us at [email protected] or by sending paper copies with your client. Whether it’s recent lab work, imaging, or treatment history, having this information allows us to make more informed decisions. Additionally, we maintain an open line of communication with referring DVMs—if you have any questions or specific concerns about your patient’s case, we’re here to collaborate with you at every step. For more information about common cases that we see, please visit our Urgent & Emergency Care page or give us a call.

Why We Take Emergency Vet Referrals

Our goal at Jupiter Veterinary Hospital & Urgent Care is to work alongside the veterinarians in our community. We want all pets to receive the urgent and emergency care they need when they need it. We know that many GP veterinarians cannot be available after-hours or have every resource on hand at all times. We are here to fill in the gaps and provide urgent care services, whether during evening hours or on weekends.

Importantly, we are not here to take over your patient’s long-term care. We believe in fostering a collaborative relationship, where communication is key and the care we provide enhances the services you offer. While we may suggest a follow-up at our emergency pet hospital in certain cases, you can trust that we will always refer patients back to you with full transparency and open communication.
